A professional organisation


The UIPP (French Crop Protection Association) is a professional association committed to explaining the role of the industry in modern agriculture and the benefits of its products to the community. It was created in 1918 and has 29 member companies which represent 96% of the French market, the premier market in the European Union.

Goals


Represent, coordinate and inform member companies on technical, regulatory and economical subjects while complying to professional ethics.


Union expert groups


The role of these expert groups is to ensure that the priorities defined by the board of directors are carried out. Specific workshops which depend from these expert groups have been set up : a few people are experts of the subject treated.

Expert groups of social relations : ensures follow-up of social legislation, advises on specific social aspects of each company, carries out an annual opinion poll on working conditions and wages.

Expert groups of external relations : ensures the code of conduct between companies and participates to setting up a communication strategy.

Technical expert groups :participates in defining and following-up prioritary activities like product registration, user safety, consumer safety, and environmental protection. Special attention is focused on coordinating activities comprising UIPP and ECPA commissions.

Economical studies expert groups : consists of all companies having direct distribution channels in France. It more particularly sets up tools for market research and deals with relations with distributors.

Industrial relations expert groups : consists of all companies having a manufacturing site in France. It follows up legislation on manufacturing plants and, more generally, on changes in environmental regulations concerning setting up the plant, safety, and the running of it.



Members


Any physical person or company manufacturing and selling chemical substances, crop protection products or similar products registered in France under their name or under their own brand can become a UIPP member.

UIPP members undertake to apply the code of usage that they have set up according to a regulatory framework which they commit themselves to.

An international and european dimension of the industry



The UIPP is member of ECPA (European Crop Protection Association / Association Européenne pour la Protection des Cultures). ECPA is composed of 18 national associations including UIPP and 11 agrochemical companies.

At a world level, the industry is consolidated into a federation which new name is Crop Life International. 
This association coordinates the industry's activities with international organisations : FAO, WHO, OECD, World Bank....
